Langtang, the Himalayan valley, is popular for its different trekking routes, natural environment and Tamang culture. The Langtang Gosaikunda Trek lies in the territory of Langtang National Park, so you can expect diverse flora and fauna throughout the trails.

The trek starts in Syabrubesi, which is a beautiful village and easily accessible from Kathmandu.

With us, you can complete this trek within 13 days, starting from the day of arrival to the day of departure. Within these 13 days, you will be rewarded with stunning views of Nepal’s landscapes, mountain ranges, water streams, picturesque villages, and everything that Langtang Region has to offer.

By the way, here are the 8 reasons to have the Langtang Valley Trek if you aren’t sure of getting the trek or not.

Syabrubesi village, the trailhead of the Langtang Gosaikunda trek, follows the route to the Lama Hotel. The trekking route is mesmerizing with the stunning, distant views of Langtang Lirung.

Beautiful sunny weather of Langtang Region in spring

Alongside the several Tamang villages on the way, you will have views of the Langtang River and the Langtang Himal. If you are having the trek in the spring season, then you can expect the colorful rhododendron forest. Along with the various other colorful flowers on the trails, the rhododendron adds a vibrant pop of color that makes it even more striking.

While following the route, you will gain higher altitudes, which will take you even closer to the majestic mountain ranges. Gaining altitude leads to a colder temperature but trekking in the best season will offer you sunny days and a warm temperature.

The trail then takes you to Kyanjin Gompa, which is a Buddhist monastery famous for the production of yak cheese and located at an altitude of 3,870m. The route to Kyanjin Gompa is easy and you can see different Himalayan yak pasturelands.

We have a short hike from Kyanjin Gompa to Tsergo-Ri, which takes around 5–6 trekking hours at a normal pace. Returning to Thulo Syrabu, the route then follows up to Lauribina village, located at an elevation of 3,910m.

The route then takes you to Gosaikunda, which houses Lake Gosaikunda, located at an elevation of 4,380m. It is a sacred lake and a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. During August, on the occasion of the Janai Purnima, pilgrims from Nepal and India flock to Gosaikunda to take a bath in the lake and pray to God for health and prosperity.

Limited Services in Higher Altitude

Not all the basic services, like hot water, telephone calls, and internet services, are available at higher altitudes. Some teahouses do offer these services but they can cost extra.

As the Langtang region is relatively close to Kathmandu, it has quite a wide range of phone services and mobile reception. Foreign SIM cards don’t function in Nepal so you have to purchase either a NCELL or NTC SIM card from Kathmandu.

For the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek, it is better to have a Nepal Telecom (NTC) SIM because of the better networks available. While buying the SIM card, also ask for the data packages, which are useful during the trek.

There are internet services available in some of the teahouses but at an extra cost. Though the fee may be small, the internet speed is good. With the increase in altitude, the internet service is less available. The basic amount the teahouses usually charge is USD 4 for an hour during the trek.

With your request, teahouses manage the hot water service too. They come with additional charges too, because they are limited and not available everywhere. With an additional fee, you can get hot water if it is essential for you.

Meals during the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

During the trek, Blue Lake Adventure offers every meal course with the Langtang Gosaikunda Trek package. For breakfast and dinner meals, you will have them in the teahouses, whereas lunch is served at tea houses along the route.

There are a variety of meal options at the teahouses but considering the fact that we are trekking in a remote region, the menu may be sizeable and can cost a bit more with the increase in altitude.

For breakfast, you can choose from the options, including chapati (flatbread) with curry, tibetan bread with jam or honey, porridge, muesli with yogurt and fruit, eggs, pancakes, etc.

dal bhaat food during the trek to Langtang Trek in Spring

For lunch and dinner, you can have the Dal Bhat (set of rice, lentils, vegetables, pickles, curd, etc.), thukpa (Tibetan noodle soup), Chow mein (stir-fried noodles), fried rice, vegetable dishes, etc.

Also, we offer a complimentary dinner at the traditional restaurant in Kathmandu before the end of the trek. Other than the trekking days, the package only includes breakfast during the stay in Kathmandu.

For additional snacks or beverages, you can purchase them when they’re available. Also, we do offer tea and coffee during the trek.

Accommodation in Langtang Gosaikunda Trek

During your stay in Kathmandu, we offer you accommodation in hotel rooms but the accommodation during the trek is in teahouses, as they are mostly available.

Teahouses are widely available during the trek and are run by the local family members so you can expect warm hospitality. They offer cozy rooms with twin beds, clean bedding, and blankets.

Most rooms in teahouses come with an attached bathroom but in some teahouses, there is a common bathroom too. As in the higher altitudes, you can expect shared squat toilets in teahouses.

The nights during the trek may go below the freezing point so we too offer you a -20°C sleeping bag. It is important to remember that the quality of the room varies depending on the area and price point.

Additionally, in well-established teahouses, you can also purchase hot shpwer for a couple of hundred rupees. (local currency)

You can get the on-arrival visa, which costs USD 30 for 15 days, USD 50 for 30 days, and USD 125 for 90 days.
